FISHING

(Boys are those under 14; lads, 14 to 18; men, over 18)

Tackle-making. Boys : To make a 6-foot leader of clean gut, with smooth knots to stand a strain of 5 lbs., honor. To tie 6 different flies, of regular patterns, on number 8-12 hooks, and take trout with each of them, by daylight casting, in clear water, high honor.

Lads: To make a bait rod of 3 joints, straight and sound, 14 oz. or less in weight, 10 feet or less in length, to stand a strain of 1½ lbs. at the tip, 13 lbs. at the grip, honor. To make a jointed
