Member of the Woodcraft League of Slovakia from 1992, still interested in ideas summarized by Ernest Thompson Seton. Working at Slovak Academy of Sciences. A vegetation ecologists with worldwide field experiences from ecosystems of four continents (South and North America (including Alaska), Europe and Africa). My studies are of an international importance for the ecology of species and communities, syntaxonomy and vegetation dynamics; enhancing the knowledge on the transnational and multidisciplinary level. The results of my work are used in the applied branches for elaboration of management models for various habitat types and providing expertise affecting the habitat use and restoration in changing environment. Dr. Šibík is a well-experienced researcher who already achieved significant results in the target research area. While as a post-doc at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, under the guidance of Prof. David Cooper, he has established fruitful cooperation with other universities such as the University of Alaska Fairbanks (prof. Walker’s Lab) and the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley (prof. Franklin’s Lab). Together with prof. Walker he participated on the “ABoVE” project supported by NASA that is a large-scale study of environmental change and its implications for social-ecological systems. In this team he recently coauthored updated Circumpolar Arctic Vegetation Map (CAVM).
