Seton cofounded the Boy Scouts of America in 1910 and hoped to use it as a platform for a national Indian lore movement, but he was drummed out in 1915 for his pacifism and for his opposition to the Boone and Crockett brand of Scouting that emphasized homegrown frontiersmen as role models.
