Organization of the Tribe WHO MAY BELONG TO THE LITTLE LODGE Any boy or girl under 12 years of age may become a member of a Little Lodge Tribe after learning the laws of Woodcraft and being approved for membership by the Guide. The suggested age range for the Little Lodge is 8 through 11 but may be raised or lowered by the Guide. TRIBE A Tribe should be not less than 12 in number. When more than 20 join, the Tribe should be divided into Clans, each with its own Chief. If more than 25 join, it usually is better to form a second Tribe. HOW TO START Organize a group of 12 or more boys or girls. Contact Woodcraft Rangers Headquarters for help in organizing the Tribe and training the Guide. Choose a Guide and Assistant Guide from the parents. Choose a name and totem. Send the registration fees and application cards to Woodcraft Rangers Headquarters. APPLICATION The Guide submits an application to be registered as a Guide of the Tribe and, upon acceptance by Headquarters, the Guide then has ful! authority to carry on the work. The Guide should have a copy of the Guide's Manual. COUNCIL RULES The members sit in a circle. They sit still; they do not run around, fight, talk or make noises. One person speaks at a time and always addresses the Chief by giving the Wood- craft sign and saying, "Oh, Chief!” Never walk across the Council Ring or cross in front of the Chiefs. Councils should be held weekly or at the call of the Guide.
