Blue Ash. (Fraxinus quadrangulata) A tall tree of the Mississippi Valley, over loo feet high. Wood light yellow, hard, close, heavy. A cubic foot weighs 45 lbs. Leaflets 7 to II, 3 to 5 inches long. "The inner bark yields a blue color to water; hence its name." "It may be distinguished among ashes by its peculiar, stout, four-angled, four-winged branches." (Keeler.)
